Rereading a playtest rule, I'm chuckling at the absurdity caused by accidentally omitting "within 5 feet of you." Pummeling at long range!

@matthewmercer I vote to roll back!
For now, the absurdity is live! It's in today's monk material.

@matthewmercerHuzzah! It’s RAW, folks!
Whoa there. Not official RAW yet. Unearthed Arcana is like a pool of tadpoles, some of which might grow into official rules.

@matthewmercerA man can dream, Jeremy. Let my wings fly (and pummel people from 70 feet away) For you, a special dispensation: you can make one unarmed strike vs. a target 90 ft. away if you yell a catchphrase (1/day)

@jd2319So as originally intended, would pummelling work at 10′ with a reach weapon?(i.e. polearm, whip) As intended? No. As written? Yes.

@maxximenez @mikemearls RAI can a kensai use str for a crossbow or gun? Can they pummel at range? Can they pummel with a reach weapon? No to all three, but the text doesn't reflect that. We've noted this issue.
