Does Sharpshooter feat should work with daggers?

@JeremyECrawford @mikemearls previously stated that the sharpshooter feat should work with daggers. What's your official ruling on this?

@Glytched @jsdeangelo @mikemearls Look at the text. The third benefit specifies ranged weapons. Daggers aren't ranged weapons.

@Glytched @jsdeangelo @mikemearls Look at bullet 1 and 2, they also specify ranged weapons. And wouldn’t the Thrown property qualify? The first two benefits refer to ranged weapon attacks, not ranged weapons.

@Glytched @jsdeangelo @mikemearlsIm confused. The last ability is also on a Ranged Weapon Attack. You choose to take a -5 on attack Yes. But the 3rd benefit talks about the weapon itself. The other 2 benefits don't care about the weapon.
